Today we attended the first annual Pitties in the Park event celebrating all things Pitbull and Holy Ruff do they know how to party. All us pooches and our human’s were welcome to join and I’m so glad we did. Pitbulls and similar breeds really get a bad wrap and its really unfair because they are really sweet and loving dogs. It’s all in how we’re raised. Honestly, had I been abused, or mated fight with other dogs, tied to trees for days on end, had giant chains wrapped around my neck, maybe I wouldn’t be so friendly. Have you ever seen an angry Pomeranian? That’s a scary sight. There were more than 100 pitbulls there today and I never saw any fights and feel really lucky that I got to meet so many new friends.
I knew right when we rolled in that this was going to be fun. Some of the short humans had set up a bounce house and I waisted no time showing them that this pooch was ready to play.
After the bounce house we came across Diego here celebrating his 10th (in human years) Ruffday. Right when we pulled up to him he asked if he could ride on our bicycle. Being that it was is Ruffday, who was I to deny him of this Birthday wish. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
Though he was excited to ride the bike, he had to have a little help getting up and down. He told me that he can still run really fast, but you can never outrun time and sometimes our bodies can’t keep up with our minds.
This little man just kinda hung out and enjoyed all the commotion going on around him. I saw him a little later in the day and he was completely asleep just hanging’ there with his human.
I Ruff all the games I get to play at these events. My humans not very good at them so I let him stand back and take pictures. After all, he has the opposable thumbs which make working the camera a little tough for me.
Would you kiss a baby Pitbull for a dollar? Well I would and so would my human. Doggie kisses are magical and and you can’t help but smile. This little pooch was so cute and sweet and gave my human a sloppy puppy lick.
I love little humans and I love Pitbulls and I have news for you, sometimes little humans bite.
I was completely confused by this big doggie. What kind of mutt walks around on 2 feet. Truth is, and I can’t really say for sure, I thought that this may be a human wearing some kind of a costume trying to pull one over on me. What do you think?
I really do love my bed on the back of our bicycle, but come on, if my human really loved me wouldn’t he mount me an actual house on the back?
We met this nice human from Lionel’s Legacy Senior Dog Rescue and really had a nice conversation. Senior dogs really have a Ruff go of it. Most humans want a puppy, but senior dogs really have a lots to offer. They are wise, housebroken, less active generally and even tempered. Often senior dogs are abandoned after being someones best friend for years. Maybe they had to move and decided they couldn’t take them, or perhaps their humans have crossed the rainbow bridge and there was none to care for them. They deserve to have a safe home and a loving human throughout their twilight years. Please consider adopting or fostering an senior dog. If you want to learn more please check out Lionel’s Legacy Senior Dog Rescue.
I’m just going to leave this one alone
This is the cutest bat I’ve ever seen, but I’m not too sure he can actually fly.
Well these humans and their poochs were excited meet us when we rolled up. They do so much good work here in San Diego pulling dogs in need from bad situations and overcrowded shelters both here and Mexico and help them find forever homes with humans in need of a little puppy guidance. To learn more check out The Rescued Dog. Tell ’em Bixby sent you.
This little Wonder Dog was frantically searching for her invisible airplane that she swore she parked somewhere around here.
Figuring she could cover more ground if I pedaled her around on our bike, she pleaded with me to help her find her plane.
What am I going to say? No? It’s Wonder Dog! When Wonder Dog asks for your help…you help!
There are so many great rescue organizations here in San Diego so there’s bound to be one that really fits your needs. This one is set up like a dating service. With the motto “Where Single Animals Come To Find Love”, The Animal Pad is a great rescue group so check them out.
Sitting right outside The Animal Pad I met Brutus here. He had love on his mind, but i was having none of it. Not that he’s not a handsome pooch, but we’re on a mission and I have no time to start a new relationship right now. We’re trying to share with everyone all the rescue organizations in the area so that we can help all the pups not as fortunate as us find their forever homes. Sorry Brutus. Maybe next time.
It true. They say if you want to save 100 pets you start with spay and neutering your own. Yes, I’ll never know the joys of motherhood, but there are so many pooches in shelter because of irresponsible humans not fixing their pets that I just can’t see the good in me trying to have my own litter of puppies. I might be able to care for one puppy, but what if I have 6 puppies. What then? Ultimately, some of them would probably end up at a shelter somewhere just adding to the problem. Don’t be a Ruffin’ Barkhole. Spay and Neuter your pets. To learn more check out the Animal Welfare Foundation of San Diego.
I was super stoked to see this little girl sporting the same collar that I wear. It by Cycle Dog and they make their collars and leashes out of recycled bicycle inner tubes. Our’s are purple and are reflective at night and they have bottle openers on them and for you humans out there pay attention, this makes us a service dog. So sit down pop a top and check out Cycle Dog. Tell them Bixby sent you.
Doozy Dog Club is a doggie day care that boasts itself as an indoor dog park. We haven’t visited an actual location yet, but they sure look nice by checking out their website so we’re going to have to go check them out.
This never gets old and I love being an official taster for quality control. Rosie’s Barkery makes some really yummy organic treats that had me coming back for seconds…and thirds. The do a lot to support local shelters as well so it’s my responsibility to eat as much as I can.
This is where it all starts. Your local town shelter. These places get so many pets for irresponsible humans that they simply run out of space to keep them. There are many rescue organizations that will pull animals out of shelters before the unspeakable happens, but the truth is, it’s not their fault. We want everyone to adopt a new best friend, but you have to be a responsible steward of these pets and get them fixed and don’t abandoned them. It’s hard sometimes walking into the country shelters, but understand, you might be the last chance for some little animal that did nothing wrong but be born. Visit and support your local shelters.
We met the humans from Poochie Pops a few weeks ago at another adoption event and got to try their yummy treats. This time they had even more and I really enjoyed getting to try them. I could tell that this one human really needed a doggie hug and I was happy to oblige her.
We met these guys last weekend at the Hornblower Bow Wow Brunch. At the time the little pooch seemed to be put off that a human dared showed up wearing the same dress as her. As it turns out, this was intentional and they always dress the same. Huh, go figure. They were both as sweet as could be and we’re really glad to see them again.
I can tell this is about to get sloppy
Yep, pretty mush how I saw that playing out. A vicious mauling from a killer monster.
Everywhere we go my human is always telling me to sit here, sit there, stay, etc… We’ll I got my revenge today. I met this trainer from Sit Means Sit, a doggie obedience training organization, and within a few minutes the roles were as they should be and my human was sitting there, being still and waiting for my next command. He then pooped on the ground and handed me a bag. Perhaps I didn’t think this through very well.
This is Luther and he’s completely tuckered out from riggers waking up from his nap. I asked him if he wanted to play and he told me he though we were playing. It’s a game that he made up where you do things and he’ll open his eyes half way every now and again and judge you.
What I didn’t realize at fist is that Luther, along with his good friend Max are authors. They have publishes a couple books that they wrote themselves and I got a sneak peek. I’m ready to write a book as well so we really had a lot to talk about. Maybe I’mm put you in my book guys. Thanks so much and it was a pleasure to meet y’all.
I’m guessing that this young lady has ridden a bicycle before, or possibly a motorcycle. She kept following us around and wanting to hop in and take off. We gave her a short ride, but ultimately its up to her to talk her humans into getting a bicycle to haul her around in. I wish her lots of luck.
Finally, after a full day it was time to pay our respects an pedal on outta here. DOG BLESS THE USA.
